In Goa fish curry is known as Hooman or Nustye Chi Kodi, Nustye means fish and Kodi means curry. I got fresh Smelt Fish (Motiyale). Grated coconut for grind masala. The bright red color is from the Byadagi chillies. It’s not very hot but imparts a dark color and aroma. Soaked tamarind is used for sourness. Tirphal or Teppal (Szechuan Pepper) The Teppal berries are must be dried and seeds are removed properly. The outer coating is what has used as a spice to flavor the curries.
